Key Responsibilities
Deliver patient care through the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across patients from birth to elderly.
Direct and coordinate nursing care based on established nursing practice standards, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to achieve quality, cost-effective patient outcomes.
Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others.
Supervise unit secretaries and OB Techs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
Serve as a resource person as clinical situations require, maintaining competencies specific to the OB setting.
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLN-approved institution required.
Current, valid Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Alaska.
Current BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications required.
Knowledge of AWHONN standards required.
Proficient oral and written communication skills with the ability to document care delivery accurately.
Ability to practice nursing in accordance with Alaska statutes governing Registered Nursing practice.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
1–2 years of recent OB/Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
National Certification in Obstetrics preferred.
