Provide intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks gestation and greater, as well as high-risk patients under 16 weeks
Manage double labor assignments in a high-volume, fast-paced birthing unit averaging approximately 20 births and 30–40 admissions per 24-hour period
Perform sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care
Circulate for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures
Conduct obstetrical triage, antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration for outpatient procedures
Float as needed to a high-risk Special Maternity Care OB unit; work every other weekend with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience; 3 years strongly preferred
Prior experience in a high-volume setting with more than 300 births per month
Proficiency in circulating to the OR, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
Current BLS (BCLS), AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP certifications required
Familiarity with EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR documentation systems
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience circulating in an OR setting within a Labor and Delivery environment
Background working in a large, high-acuity birthing unit with high daily admission and birth volumes
Comfort managing double labor assignments as a routine part of daily workflow
