Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift | 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continuous newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments until transfer to postpartum
- Circulate in the operating room during cesarean sections and other surgical deliveries across 4 ORs
- Administer and monitor high-risk medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Utilize electronic fetal monitoring and document care using EPIC
- Float to Postpartum and Antepartum units as needed, following AWHONN staffing guidelines
Required Qualifications- Minimum of 3–5 years of Labor and Delivery experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment; high-risk L&D experience required
- Must be able to circulate in the OR — hard stop requirement
- Must be able to perform newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K (thigh) injections, and newborn assessments — hard stop requirement
- Active RN license with current compact license honored
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP (proof required at submission)
- Current supervisory references required; must pass clinical review with proof of current NURSYS
Preferred Experience / Skills- 5 or more years of high-risk Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Experience with Adult Recovery Services supporting substance use recovery in an OB setting
