Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum — this is a hard-stop requirement
Circulate in the OR — this is a hard-stop requirement; must be able to circulate in all 4 ORs
Perform newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments
Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate; utilize electronic fetal monitoring
Float to Postpartum and Antepartum as needed; may float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
Required Qualifications
Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
BLS certification required
NRP certification required
Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience
High-risk L&D experience required; must be comfortable in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
Proficiency with EPIC (hard stop) and electronic fetal monitoring
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a traveler; local candidates are accepted at a standard local rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
ACLS certification
AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification
Experience working in high-volume units (unit averages 500–600 deliveries/month)
Familiarity with AWHONN staffing guidelines
