Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Contract | Nights (4x12-Hour Shifts, 19:00–07:30)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
- Circulate in the operating room during deliveries and perform scrub functions as required
- Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continuous newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments until transfer to postpartum
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Utilize electronic fetal monitoring and EPIC electronic health record system
- Float to Postpartum and Antepartum units, and potentially to sister facilities offering Mother/Baby services, as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience in a high-acuity, high-volume environment; high-risk L&D experience required
- Must be able to circulate in the OR and provide full newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments — these are hard-stop requirements
- Active RN license; compact license must be active and in hand at time of submission
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Proficiency with EPIC and electronic fetal monitoring
- Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as needed, including a commitment to 3 of 5 designated holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 5 or more years of high-risk Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred
- ACLS certification preferred
- AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate fetal monitoring certification preferred
- Experience in high-volume units with census averaging 500–600 deliveries per month
