Travel Nurse RN - Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum - $2,074 to $2,110 per week in Macon, GA

Title: RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum

Location: Macon Georgia 31201

Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36 Shift Information: 7p-a Clinical Interviewing- Yes - Manager Approval to Offer On Call, Call Back Requirements: 12 hour shift every 6 weeks Weekend Rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts on a 6 week schedule (5-6 out of 12) Holiday Requirements: must work one day of each major holiday - either 11/26 or 11/27 AND 12/24 or 12/25 AND 12/31 or 1/1 Floating Requirements: Travelers to fill the gaps until the new hires are here and oriented- have 5 hired in orientation (3 in orientation until end of October, 1 in orientation until mid November, 1 until end of December

Unit Information:

• Beds: 9 Labor Beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 Antepartum, 4 triage, 27 Postpartum,
• Census: 2-14 L&D

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years L&D RN experience., 1 year OB Surg Tech experience

• Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Laboring patients, Antepartum patients, a triage area, PACU and OR

Patient Ratios:

• RN: Follow AWHONN Guidelines
• OB Tech: 2-3 per shift

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.):

• RN: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring required. BCR (Basic Cardiac Rythm) required - meaning traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of Compliance
• Surg Tech: BLS, CST

Skills required:

• RN: Strong clinical assessment and L&D skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital, IV insertion and care, central line management, Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
• Surg Tech: scrub surgeries, c-sections, set up tables for vaginal deliveries, stock the unit

Support within the Department:

• 2 OB Surg Techs per shift
• CNA: Duties: Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); obtain blood from blood bank
• Receptionist/HUC: Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a
• Charge nurse – may have patients
• IV/VAT Team: Not an IV team - do have a PICC team
• RT 24/7: yes
• Hospitalist 24/7: yes
• Intensivist 24/7: Yes
• OB Physicians, 24/7
• Bedside and Nursing Station Tele/Fetal monitoring

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Phillips

Unit specific equipment:

• VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips Cardiac Telemetry monitoring
• Portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp)
• PCA pain management
• Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system
• Glucommander
• Suction machine
• Use of admission/ discharge protocol for rapid turnover

Floating: If yes, where:

• RN: All adult med surg / telemetry units in house
• Surg Tech: none

Orientation (facility and unit):

• 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
• 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule)
• On call: If so, what is that schedule: No call
• Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after 12/24 or 12/25 12/31 or 1/1
• RTO Requests: Manager approval
• Shift times: 12-hour shifts 7A-7P or 7P-7A
• Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
