Job Summary

Join our dedicated nursing team as a Registered Nurse in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit at a hospital in Grants, New Mexico. This role is for a compassionate, licensed professional committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care through the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

As an LDRP RN, you will provide comprehensive care to perinatal patients, supporting them through labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum stages, as well as conducting newborn assessments. You will coordinate individualized patient education, guide and supervise ancillary team members, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and infants. All practice must align with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, procedures, and current evidence-based guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for perinatal patients and newborns.
  • Deliver direct patient care across the lifespan, with a focus on maternal-child health, while promoting optimal health outcomes.
  • Provide clear, culturally sensitive education to patients and families, supporting health literacy and successful transitions of care.
  • Direct and supervise licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and other ancillary personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the broader care team.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
  • Float to other departments as needed, with appropriate orientation and training.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Current Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
  • OPS Emergency Workshop and STABLE certification required within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • SAFER NM Technician certification.

  • Skilled in all aspects of perinatal care, labor support, delivery, and newborn assessment.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and sterile field maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to deliver compassionate, culturally competent care to patients of all ages.
  • Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain strong problem-solving and coping skills.
  • Physically able to lift, position, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
