Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of bedside nursing experience required; 2 years of bedside clinical experience highly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required based on unit and patient-care needs
• Demonstrated ability to assess, prioritize, and manage care for medically complex patients in an LTAC or acute care setting
• Strong communication, organization, delegation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, professional conduct, and accurate clinical documentation

LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within required timeframes and develop individualized plans of care
• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and communicate pertinent updates promptly to appropriate members of the healthcare team
• Participate in interdisciplinary conferences and contribute timely information to support coordinated care planning
• Provide patient and family education based on identified health needs and anticipated discharge goals
• Initiate discharge planning from admission and support patients as they work toward improved function and transition readiness
• Delegate appropriately while providing direction, training, and supervision to nursing support personnel
• Promote safe patient handling, infection prevention, fall prevention, and a safe work environment
• Maintain accurate, timely, and concise documentation in the electronic medical record
• Prioritize care effectively, manage time and resources responsibly, and contribute to a positive team environment
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation when requested and participate in ongoing professional development
