Description

Job Title: Long Length of Stay/Acute Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: LTAC Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Experience with accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy management, CVA care, feeding tube care, isolation precautions, and wound care. Description: The unit consists of both dementia/autistic patients and acute medical patients. Floating to various like units is required. Travelers will float to meet departmental needs within their skill set. The patient ratio is 1:4 during days, 1:5 during nights, and 1:5 on weekends. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. Local travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this travel contract. Pending licenses will not be accepted. Special patient needs include long-term care and acute medical observation. Patients often present with behavioral issues, dementia, autism, and psychosis. Some patients may require significant assistance for activities of daily living. The combination of long-length-of-stay patients and acute medical beds supports a diverse patient demographic. Providers assess long-length-of-stay patients weekly, while acute medical patients are seen daily. The goals for patient care include reaching baseline functionality or better to facilitate placement in suitable long-term care options. The unit is equipped with lifts and mobility equipment to assist with patient care. Interdisciplinary support teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy are available. Two references covering at least one year within the last three years are required prior to the start of the assignment. Modules are required pre-start and annually, with an average completion time of 16 hours.
