A valid driver's license must be included in the submission packet. Local placements are accepted if greater than 20 miles from the facility. Department is focused on long-term care and skilled nursing. The facility typically has a census of 80-95 residents. There are 20 rooms that are not private. The electronic medical record system used is Point Click Care (PCC). The nurse-to-patient ratios in LTC are 1:25, and in skilled nursing, they are 1:13. For LPNs, the ratio is also 1:25 in LTC and 1:13 in skilled nursing. CNA ratios are typically 1:10-15, aiming to keep around 10. Common diagnoses include feeding tubes, IV antibiotics, post-surgical care, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Job duties include administering IVs, conducting assessments, providing medications, performing dressing changes, and managing wound vacs. Respiratory therapy is available during the day Monday through Friday; nurses are responsible for treatments outside of those hours. Admissions and discharges are completed by the RN. CNAs assist with vital signs and activities of daily living but do not perform blood sugar checks. Experience with IV therapy and administering intravenous antibiotics and fluids is preferred. Nurses are encouraged to attend team conferences and meetings. There is a charge nurse on each shift, and two dedicated charge nurses are available during night shifts, who manage a full patient load. After-hours physician coverage is provided by a hospitalist, and a nurse practitioner is available during weekdays. An interdisciplinary team, including various specialists and support staff, collaborates for patient care. Pharmacy services are available on-site and 24/7. Shifts for CNAs can be 8 or 12 hours, with management making the schedules to accommodate preferences when possible. Weekend and holiday work is required on an alternating basis. There are no call or standby requirements. Nurses may float between units but are typically maintained on the same unit for scheduled shifts. All personnel are required to wear professional scrubs in any color. Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift on the floor, with a debrief for any concerns regarding comfort or confidence after the shift. The unit does not have a separate COVID unit, and both PAPR and N95 respirators are used as necessary.
