Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Skilled Nursing Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 12 hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Prior Skilled Nursing Facility or Subacute experience Description: This position involves working in a skilled nursing unit. The facility provides semi-private rooms. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. The nurse to patient ratio is 5:1. Nurses are responsible for medication administration, wound care, trach care, and IV care. Respiratory therapy supports stable ventilators and trach care. Common patient diagnoses include pulmonary conditions requiring oxygen, Alzheimer's, and dementia. Nurses are required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation. There is physician availability after hours. An interdisciplinary team is present, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation, case managers, social workers, and dieticians. Respiratory therapy is available on-site 24/7 for oxygen therapy and equipment. A pharmacy is on-site with a medication dispensing system. Weekend and holiday work is required. Nurses are required to wear navy blue scrubs. The unit requires the use of both PAPR and N95 masks. The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done using the Cerner system.
