The RN Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a designated unit within a long-term care (LTC) facility. This role ensures high-quality resident care, supervises nursing staff, maintains regulatory compliance, and promotes a safe and supportive environment for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate daily nursing care within the assigned LTC unit
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, and nursing assistants
- Ensure delivery of resident-centered care in accordance with care plans
- Conduct regular rounds to assess resident conditions and address concerns
- Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
- Oversee medication administration and treatment procedures
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and infection control standards
- Manage staffing schedules, assignments, and unit workflow
- Handle resident/family concerns and support communication
- Participate in care planning meetings and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit records
