Labor & Delivery RN – Travel Contract
Specialty: Labor & Delivery RN
Location: South Dakota
Contract: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Shift: 12-Hour Variable — 6:30 AM/PM
Weekend: Every other weekend
First-Time Travelers: Yes
Facility/Unit:
- 10 Labor & Delivery beds
- 4 OB ED/Triage beds
- 4 Antepartum rooms
- Level 3 NICU
- High-risk and low-intervention deliveries
- Antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and newborn care
- Epic charting
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of L&D experience
- Level 3+ L&D experience preferred
- High-acuity labor experience
- Must be comfortable caring for patients <35 weeks gestation
- Must care for postpartum/couplet patients throughout the contract
- Must be comfortable with normal newborn nursery (Level I) care
Required Skills:
- Preeclampsia and preterm labor management
- IV starts
- Cervical checks
- Phlebotomy
- Magnesium sulfate
- Blood administration
- Insulin administration
- C-section circulation and recovery
- Antepartum care
- Couplets/postpartum care
- Newborn nursery care
Certifications:
- BLS – Required
- NRP – Required
- ACLS – Preferred
- Inpatient Obstetrics certification – Preferred
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring – Preferred
- Inpatient Antepartum certification – Preferred
Additional Requirements:
- South Dakota RN license
- Epic experience required; manager approval required if absent
- Level 3+ L&D experience required; manager approval required if absent
- Variable shifts: Must be comfortable working both days and nights
- Holiday coverage as needed
- May be placed on low-census call
- May be expected to precept students
