Maternal Child Health Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Maternal Child Health Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of patients within a defined time frame. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN collaborates effectively with other healthcare team members to ensure the delivery of quality care. This role involves applying knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and interpreting patient data to address age-specific needs. The RN operates primarily in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Newborn Nursery, Level II Nursery, Mother-Baby, and GYN patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process while collaborating with the healthcare team.
• Assess and interpret patient data to identify individual needs based on age-specific criteria.
• Function as a primary RN in various Maternal Child Health settings, providing support to patients and families.
• May be assigned to float to other areas as needed, adhering to departmental protocols and maintaining high standards of care and safety.

Education & Training Requirements

• Current New Mexico or Multi-State Licensure.
• Basic Life Support (AHA) certification is required upon hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) certification is required upon hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is required upon hire.
• AWOHHN Fetal Monitoring certification is required upon hire.
• STABLE certification is preferred.
• ALSO certification is preferred.
• Experience within a Baby Friendly program is preferred.

Work Experience Requirements

• Three years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Three years of experience in Nursery care.
• Three years of experience in Med-Surg (Medical-Surgical) nursing.
• Proficiency in Meditech or comparable EMR documentation is preferred.

Additional Information

• Every third weekend is required.
• 48-hour shifts offered upon request.
• Block scheduling available upon request.
