Prime Time Healthcare Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Charleston, South Carolina.

Travel RN – Medical-Surgical (7th Floor Flagship Unit)

 

Contract Details

  • Location: Charleston, SC (Trident Medical Center)
  • Shift: 3x12-Hour Shifts (36 Hours/Week)
  • Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW) required. Overtime (OT) is available!
  • Charting System: Meditech
  • Dress Code: Navy Blue or White scrubs
  • Floating Policy: Floating PRN as needed across like units.

Unit & Facility Overview

  • Facility Scale: Trident Medical Center is a 313-bed HCA facility featuring a 24-hour Emergency Room and Level II Trauma Center.
  • Unit Footprint: 7th Floor Med-Surg — A high-volume 48-bed unit (the largest inpatient unit in the hospital) handling a fast-paced mix of general medical-surgical and post-operative patients.
  • Patient Ratios: Aiming for 1:6 (maximum 1:7 during peak census).
  • Outstanding Unit Support:
    • Staffing Pattern: Typically staffed with 9 RNs, 5 PCTs, and 1 Unit Secretary per shift.
    • Dedicated Care Coordination: Pilot unit featuring 2 dedicated Case Managers and 1 Social Worker stationed directly on the floor to streamline complex patient dispositions.
    • Communication Tech: Equipped with facility iPhones for seamless team huddles and quick staff communication.

Clinical Skills & Equipment

  • Core Procedures: Tracheostomy care, complex wound care, straight & indwelling catheterizations, and post-op care.
  • Equipment Available: Ultrasound-guided IV placement technology, bladder scanners, and EKG machines.

Requirements & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of recent acute care Medical-Surgical experience. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • License: Active South Carolina (SC) or multi-state Compact RN license required.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS required.
