All inpatient Med-Surg units
Unit size: 20–36 beds
RN ratio: 1:4–6
LPN ratio: 1:4–6
CNA: up to 1:14
Required Experience & Certifications
Required:
2+ years MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience
BLS
Must be proficient in required cardiac/telemetry skills
Must pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding
Required Clinical Skills
Candidate should be proficient with:
Trach care
Chest tube management
PIV starts
Glucometer
Insulin drips
Heparin drips
Drips titrated to HR rather than BP
All cardiac drips
Telemetry monitoring
Department Support
Charge nurse available
CNA support
Resource/discharge nurses
PICC team
RT available 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
Intensivist 24/7
Central telemetry monitoring/tech
Technology
EMR: Epic
IV Pumps: Alaris
Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
Monitors: Philips
