Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team in a Medical Surgical setting. This position is essential in providing high-quality patient care, particularly in ortho trauma and general surgery. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in managing a variety of medical conditions and surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications and manage heparin drips, PCA, and blood products.
• Provide colostomy and feeding tube care and management.
• Perform central and peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and PICC line management.
• Monitor and manage dysrhythmias and O2 protocols.
• Assist in non-invasive airway management and wound care.
• Handle traumatic brain injuries and ortho trauma cases, including management of surgical drains and chest tubes.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC.
• Ensure compliance with isolation precautions and PPE protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the last 5 years as a Registered Nurse.
• Active RN license is required.
• Experience taking heparin drips, managing dysrhythmias, and working with IV starts is essential.
• BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS is preferred.
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and neurological trauma is a plus.
• 1st time travelers are accepted.
• Must pass an EKG testing prior to start.

Job Details

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5-6.
• Shift: 12-hour nights, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Required to float to similar units and alternate care locations.
• Mandatory weekend assignments every other weekend.
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and expected to report during disasters.

Patient Diagnoses

Care for patients with severe injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissue, as well as traumatic brain injuries and neurological trauma.

Orientation

12 hours of unit-specific orientation and 16 hours of organizational education will be provided.

Attire

Required to wear navy scrubs.
