Med/Surg Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
• At least 1 year of bedside clinical nursing experience; 2 years preferred
• Basic Life Support certification required before the first shift
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required before the first shift when applicable to the assignment
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members

Med/Surg Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Complete nursing assessments within the required timeframe and develop individualized plans of care.
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor patient progress, recognize changes in condition, and communicate pertinent information promptly to appropriate care team members.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care updates accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rehabilitation planning and team conferences.
• Provide patient and family education based on identified health needs and anticipated discharge goals.
• Initiate discharge planning from admission and support patients in achieving safe transitions of care.
• Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Promote safe patient handling, infection prevention, fall prevention, and a safe care environment.
• Prioritize workload effectively, maintain unit readiness, and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Assume charge responsibilities after orientation when requested and pursue ongoing professional development.
