Job Summary:

- Provide skilled nursing care for patients on a medical oncology unit, including those with cancer, medical step-down needs, and general medical overflow.
- Apply basic knowledge of cancer pathophysiology to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Regularly assess patient needs and deliver care per physician-prescribed and authorized plans, following accepted nursing standards.
- Administer direct patient care, including nursing assessments, medication administration, treatments, responding to call lights, assisting with patient transfers, and responding to alarms.
- Evaluate treatment plans and patient conditions, collaborating with healthcare team members to update and improve care based on current assessments.
- Accurately process and carry out physician/provider orders in a timely manner.
- Follow up on medication changes and clarify provider orders as necessary.
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and care coordination.
- Must have at least 2 years of Med Surg experience and oncology experience.
- Comfortable caring for step-down patients; prior travel nursing experience highly preferred.
- Maintain active Michigan RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications (AHA required).
- Work requires compliance with facility policies, including dress code (navy blue) and EMR use (Epic).
- Facility is a 324-bed medical center in Midland, MI, providing a broad range of care including emergency and trauma services.
