Job Summary: A Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Urology/Nephrology is needed for an acute care hospital located in Springfield, Illinois. The role involves providing patient care on a busy 25-bed medical-surgical unit with a focus on urology, nephrology, and kidney transplant cases. This opportunity offers the chance to work within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility, supporting adult patients with a variety of diagnoses and surgical procedures.
Job Details:
Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026.
Required Qualifications: Active Illinois RN license, BLS certification, at least 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including telemetry-monitoring, emergency response, and renal/urology care skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with kidney transplant, trauma center experience, Cerner charting system proficiency, and prior medical-surgical or critical care background.
Certifications: BLS required; AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted.
Additional Information: Will float within scope to other medical-surgical units, work every other weekend, and accommodate a short RTO request of no more than 5 days. The unit manages adult patients with diagnoses such as UTI, pneumonia, kidney stones, enlarged prostate, and complex bladder surgeries. Responsibilities include managing urinary and renal procedures, IV therapy, and emergency response, with frequent use of equipment like chest tubes, PICC lines, and urinary catheters. The assignment involves completing required modules prior to start and mandatory virtual orientation on Day 1.
