Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Contract in Spokane, WA
Join a collaborative medical-surgical nursing team as a travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Spokane, Washington. This 16-week, on-site travel nursing contract offers the opportunity to care for adult medical-surgical and rehabilitation patients while working alongside an interdisciplinary healthcare team. - Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week; 48 hours may be approved
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6–8
- Weekend Coverage: Weekends may be required, with a minimum of every other weekend based on staffing needs
- Call: Not required
- Charting: Electronic health record experience required
- Orientation: 40 hours
Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with electronic health records and clinical documentation
- Ability to care for patients with varying medical-surgical needs and safely manage a patient assignment of approximately 6–8 patients
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and care coordination skills
- Willingness to float between units or nearby affiliated locations when operationally required
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years may be required during the compliance process
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and rehabilitation patients during night shifts
- Perform patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Manage peripheral lines, oxygen therapy, nasal cannula use, and non-invasive airway support
- Apply isolation precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment practices
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, support staff, and rapid response or code teams to promote positive patient outcomes
- Document nursing care thoroughly in the electronic health record
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, safety, medications, and transition-of-care needs
- Adapt to changing unit assignments and support team-based coverage as needed
