Job Summary: Medical Surgical Floor (MS) Registered Nurse (RN) in Evansville, Indiana. The role supports trauma, orthopedic, and neuro-focused patient care in a 12-hour day shift setting. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days; 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM7:00 AM/PM as listed); minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Current active compact license; Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association (AHA)); National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Associate Degree or Certificate; Medical Surgical Floor (MS) Registered Nurse (RN) experience requirements as stated: 2 years as RN, one full year ortho/neuro/trauma, and 1 travel assignment; Trauma level II experience; Recent Epic charting experience required (checkoff class may be required)
  • Preferred Qualifications: Chest tube and indwelling drain management; management of drips (heparin, lasix, protonix); epidural management; PEGs/NGs; Buck s traction; pin site care; On-Q management; Crisis/Withdrawal-related care (CIWA/BH); wound care including packing and wound vacs
  • Responsibilities: Provide strong neuro assessments and critical thinking-based patient care; perform log rolling for appropriate patients; apply assistive devices (back brace, immobilizer); perform Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (including passing a tele test with Emergency Stepdown (STEPDOWN) experience explicit emphasis); perform peripheral IV (PIV) insertion; support care for trauma, orthopedic (including broken hip/femur), and neuro patients (including scheduled neck/back, spine/rib fracture care)
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six week schedule; every other holiday
  • Float: Float: Float rotation may be required. First to float within skillset, with possible cross-campus floating to additional locations; mid-shift float within the same campus; cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible with 2-hour notice
  • Additional Information: Three call-ins can result in termination. The unit is a teaching environment and may require precepting of students and new hires. COVID-19 vaccine is not required (subject to change). Weekly orientation may affect guaranteed hours; travelers are guaranteed set hours per week except during holidays when the unit is closed.
