- Scheduling: Flexibility is required to meet unit needs; block scheduling is not available
- Orientation: Available orientation dates include October 5, October 19, and November 2, 2026
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a valid Compact RN license at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience or experience in a closely related specialty
- Prior travel nursing experience is required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred; the ability and willingness to function as charge nurse is required
- Experience in a teaching hospital or an environment that supports students and new team members is preferred
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and at least one major holiday
- Strong communication, teamwork, clinical judgment, and adaptability
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients with diabetic and renal conditions
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate outcomes
- Monitor changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate members of the care team
- Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, technicians, and other interdisciplinary professionals
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned, including supporting unit operations, patient flow, and team coordination
- Provide patient and family education related to treatment plans, medications, diabetes management, renal care, and discharge needs
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and handoff information
- Contribute to a supportive teaching environment by assisting students and new hires with professionalism and respect
- Maintain compliance with clinical standards, safety procedures, and applicable nursing policies
