Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and time-management skills
• Ability to provide documentation of work history and explain employment gaps longer than 90 days
• Comfort working in a teaching-hospital environment alongside students and new team members
• Willingness to accept occasional charge nurse responsibilities after appropriate training

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Clinical Observation and Medical-Surgical setting
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate concerns to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Perform nursing assessments, update care plans, and maintain timely, thorough clinical documentation
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary departments, students, and fellow nurses
• Manage care for approximately five to six patients while maintaining patient safety and quality standards
• Provide patient and family education to support treatment plans and transitions of care
• Contribute to a supportive learning environment for students and new hires
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities when needed and participate in related training
