Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) for a 12-hour day shift position in Weirton, West Virginia. This role involves providing patient care on an acute care unit with a focus on common diagnoses such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, altered mental status, gastrointestinal bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls, and weakness. The candidate will support patient assessments, vitals, medication administration, and basic nursing procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days, weekends as scheduled, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: BLS Certification; RN License; 1 year of experience; will accept first-time travelers.
- Duties: Perform vital checks, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, apply heart monitors, bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning of patients.
- Charge Nurse: A charge nurse is present on each shift and may take assignments as needed.
- Nurse Aids/Patient Care Technicians: Assist with patient care and are present on the unit.
- Equipment: RNs troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment such as Bipap, Cpap, high-flow oxygen, and inhalers; respiratory therapy staff handle breathing treatments and ABGs.
- Tele/Monitor Techs: Located on an adjacent level, reads and monitors telemetry strips; nurses are not expected to interpret telemetry data.
- Floats: May be floated to other medical units or intermediate care units to support operational needs.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, Ceil Blue for PCTs, black and pink for secretarial staff.
- Orientation: One day with educator/computer system and one day with a preceptor.
- Holiday and Weekend: Every other weekend, may be asked to work holidays based on rotation.
- Other Requirements: Willingness to work rotating shifts with schedule adjustments.
- Start Date: 08/10/2026.
- Licensing: License to submit required.
