Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor registered nurse (RN) position is based in Oakland, Maryland. The role involves providing patient care in a 20-bed unit that primarily manages common diagnoses such as cardiovascular, respiratory, post-surgical, and pediatric conditions. The position offers a dynamic environment where RNs will utilize EPIC electronic medical record systems, work on a rotating night shift schedule, and contribute to a team supporting diverse patient needs.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts starting at 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Candidates should expect to work approximately 36 hours per week with opportunities for extra shifts.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, BLS (American Heart Association) certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); minimum of 2 years of experience on a Med/Surg unit. Experience in EPIC EMR system required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Strong Med/Surg background with experience managing a variety of patient conditions. Knowledge of tele/monitor reading is recommended; however, RNs are not required to titrate drips or set rates.
- Float: Floating to assist other units may be required to facilitate staffing needs.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes a 3-5 day review with the manager, unit tour, and discussions on policies and procedures. The role involves working in a unit with a diverse patient population, supporting multiple diagnoses, and working within specified nurse-to-patient ratios.
