Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) – Travel Contract in Gardner, MA

Experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurses can join a collaborative acute-care team in Gardner, Massachusetts, for a 13-week travel nursing assignment with evening shifts and competitive weekly pay.

Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adult medical-surgical and surgical patients in a telemetry-focused setting. Located in North Central Massachusetts, Gardner offers scenic surroundings, outdoor recreation, and convenient access to regional amenities.

Travel Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
• Assignment Type: 13-week medical-surgical travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Shift: Evening shifts, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.
• Shift Duration: 8 hours
• Schedule: 4 shifts per week; every other weekend and every other holiday
• Healthcare Setting: Adult medical-surgical unit with telemetry and surgical patient care

Med/Surg RN Job Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Previous telemetry nursing experience required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire
• MOAB certification required within 60 days of hire
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and nursing documentation skills
• Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute-care environment

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care according to standards of practice, clinical protocols, and established policies.
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, including pain, cardiac status, laboratory results, diagnostic findings, and responses to treatment.
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapies in accordance with provider orders and applicable policies.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac symptoms, chest pain, life-threatening conditions, and other changes in patient status.
• Interpret cardiac rate, rhythm, and configuration and initiate appropriate interventions based on orders and protocols.
• Provide ongoing assessment, education, and support to surgical patients and their families.
• Manage pain using prescribed therapies, pain-management devices, and other appropriate techniques.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment such as feeding pumps, chest tubes, drains, and traction or orthopedic devices.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge preparation.
• Communicate timely, accurate reports to the healthcare team to promote continuity of care and patient safety.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions appropriately while supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive learning environment.
