Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse position located in an acute care setting. The role involves providing patient care on a 128-bed unit with a focus on surgical services such as colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, and orthopedic procedures, as well as common medical conditions including diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney, and gastrointestinal issues. The position requires direct patient care during night shifts, with a schedule of every other weekend.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice, BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing, and relevant certifications.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in large hospital settings, familiarity with Cerner charting system, and ability to work independently on a busy surgical unit.
• Float: Float: Float rotation may be required to Med/Surg pods.
• Additional Information: The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 and does not require titration of drips or handling high-acuity airway equipment; respiratory support is readily available. The unit utilizes remote tele monitoring, and RN staff is responsible for reading their own strips. Orientation includes three shifts of unit-specific training. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment or three shifts for shorter assignments.
