Job Summary Medical Surgical Floor registered nurse position is located in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing patient care on an 18-bed unit with private and semi-private rooms. The position features day shifts with collaborative scheduling and requires a dedicated nursing professional to support patients with various diagnoses in an acute care setting.
Job Details
Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7 a.m. 7 p.m.) with report at 7 a.m., minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Illinois registered nurse licensure, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, at least 1 year of hospital experience preferred, ability to read telemetry strips, experience with titrating heparin drips, and willingness to float to other units as needed
Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification for charge nurse role
Department Details: Medical Surgical Acute Care with 18 beds (all private rooms except one semi-private), nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 during the day, 5-6:1 at night, with two patient care technicians per shift
Patient Care: General medical patients with various diagnoses, oxygen support up to 6L nasal cannula, stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or PRN, and intravenous Heparin titration
Staffing and Resources: 24/7 coverage of house supervisor, unit clerk with round-the-clock presence, telemetry monitored remotely via Phillips monitors, and RT services available 24/7.
Additional Details: Travel RNs are the first to float to other units as needed; approved scrubs in any color (no pediatric scrubs required). A brief orientation including one 12-hour shift with a unit preceptor is provided. Hospitalist and intensivist services are available 24/7.
