Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse position in Galesburg, Illinois. This role involves providing patient care in a 37-bed unit that includes private and semi-private rooms. The position requires a dedicated RN to work night shifts, with responsibilities including managing common diagnoses such as COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, Pneumonia, and surgical recoveries. The role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic hospital environment with in-house hospitalist coverage and various advanced monitoring capabilities.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. 7:30 a.m., with self-scheduling available but managed by the supervisor; the minimum weekly hours are 36.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois registered nurse license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association) certification; a minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing; completion of 2 days of department orientation and 1 day of hospital/EMR orientation.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EPIC electronic charting system; familiarity with ventilated patients such as those on BiPAP, CPAP, or high-flow oxygen therapy; ability to float to other floors if competent.
• Additional Information: The unit does not typically have ventilated patients but manages patients requiring telemonitoring, Lasix drips, and Heparin drips. The unit is a Level 2 trauma setting, with no vents but with available ePharmacy and in-house IV team support. Nurses may be required to work every other weekend and holidays. No specific scrub color is mandated as casual or logo gear approved by OSF can be worn. Float to other floors may occur based on competency.
