Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit. The successful candidate will collaborate with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality nursing care while adhering to appropriate age and population specific standards.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical (Med Surg)
• Unit Size: 47 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 5:1 Day Shift, 6:1 Night Shift

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday
• Floating: May float to any medical surgical unit within the region

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years recent Medical Surgical experience in a large hospital (minimum of 200 beds) or level 2 trauma center
• Travel experience preferred unless multiple years of experience in a level 1 trauma center
• Surgical oncology patient experience is preferred but not required
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Active RN license in North Dakota or a compact state
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records

General Job Duties

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive nursing care for Medical Surgical and Surgical Oncology patients
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care
• Demonstrating nursing competency and knowledge in the care of specific patient populations

Training and Orientation

• 1-day lead center training
• 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor for hands-on training
