Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Medical Surgical to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, manage diverse patient needs, and collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients, ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures.
• Utilize remote telemetry monitoring and respond effectively to changes in patient conditions.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including insulin protocols and blood product administration.
• Provide pre/post-hemodialysis management and perform central line and peripheral blood draws.
• Conduct wound care and manage specialized needs including colostomy and feeding tube care.
• Implement measures to maintain patient safety, including isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management.
• Participate in teamwork initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nursing experience in a Medical Surgical setting.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation is preferred.
• Strong skills in phlebotomy, IV management, and various patient care techniques, including managing chest tubes and CPAP/BiPAP.
• Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems, specifically Epic, is advantageous.

Additional Information

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6.
• Shifts are 12 hours, with schedules of 36 or 48 hours per week available for contracts of 13-26 weeks.
• Floating between units may be required based on staffing needs.
• Weekend commitments of 12-16 shifts per contract are expected.
• Available to respond to emergencies and disaster situations as necessary.

Unit Details

The unit specializes in providing care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including dementia, diabetes, COPD, sepsis, and other medical-surgical conditions, including COVID-19 related illnesses. Orientation will include 24 hours on unit specifics with additional hospital orientation in the first week.

Scrubs should be navy and white.
