Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical unit. The RN will provide high-quality care for patients, including those undergoing surgical oncology treatments, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to Medical Surgical and Surgical Oncology patients.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using EMR systems.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while monitoring patient responses.
• Participate in patient education initiatives to ensure understanding of health management and recovery plans.
• Conduct patient assessments and vital checks as part of routine care.
• Support a safe healthcare environment by following established protocols and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Dakota or a compact state.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Medical Surgical nursing, ideally in a large hospital setting (200 beds or more) and a level 2 trauma center.
• Travel nursing experience preferred or substantial years of experience in a level 1 facility.
• Experience caring for surgical oncology patients is preferred but not required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
• Proficient in using EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems.

Shift Information

This position requires 12-hour shifts, with expectations to work every other weekend and holiday. The nurse may be required to float to other Medical Surgical units as needed.

Training and Orientation

• Comprehensive onboarding that includes a one-day lead center training.
• Two 12-hour shifts on the unit with a designated preceptor for hands-on training.

Patient Care Environment

The unit consists of a 47-bed department with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 on day shifts and 6:1 on night shifts. The RN will utilize various equipment, including telemetry and bladder scanners, to provide high-quality patient care.
