Shift: Days/Nights | 4×12 hours
Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Weekend: Every other weekend required
Charting: Epic
Local Radius: Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to provide care for adult and geriatric patients in an acute medicine setting at a Magnet, teaching, Level I Trauma hospital.
The unit primarily cares for medical patients and does not treat surgical patients. The patient population includes diabetes, renal conditions, COPD, abdominal rule-outs, and cancer patients not receiving active chemotherapy.
Key Clinical Skills
- Medical-Surgical and MS/Telemetry nursing
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- IV therapy, IV starts, PICC and central-line management
- Blood product administration
- Heparin and insulin management
- PCA management
- Respiratory care including oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
- BiPAP/CPAP experience
- Chest tube care
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Phlebotomy and blood draws
Bedside procedures may include thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and simple suturing/debridement.
Requirements
- 2+ years of RN experience preferred
- Candidates with 1+ year may be considered with Level I Trauma and teaching-facility experience
- BLS and ACLS – Required
- Epic experience – Required
- MS/Telemetry experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must pass the Relias EKG exam
- Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
Assignment Details
- Every other weekend required

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a Magnet and teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with approximately 1,266 staffed beds.
