Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position is for a skilled Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center. The role involves providing care for general medical and surgical patients in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage a 15-bed unit, providing initial admissions and post-ER care until patients are assigned to their respective units.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure quality care and patient safety.
• Perform relevant assessments and implement care plans based on patient needs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Utilize Epic for electronic documentation and communication.
• Participate in training programs and orientation for new practices and procedures within the unit.

Shift Information

Shifts are 12 hours, with a rotation schedule that includes every other weekend and holiday. Flexible hours may be considered for those able to work additional shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• EPIC experience is preferred.
• Current BLS certification from AHA is required.
• Able to function effectively in a high-paced environment.

Unit Details

• All private rooms with a nurse to patient ratio of 5:1 during the day and 6:1 at night.
• Equipment utilized includes Zebra phones, Omnicell for medications, and Aleris IV pumps.
• Floating to other medical/surgical units may be required as needed.

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.

Training and Orientation

The orientation program will focus on the specific needs of the medical/surgical unit, ensuring familiarity with fast-paced operations and standard protocols.
