Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Orthopedic - $2,164 per week in Parkersburg, WV

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: 4N Ortho-Neuro - Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Experience with orthopedic patients Experience with PCA pumps Description: The unit specializes in orthopedic and neuro-surgical care. The unit typically has 33 beds, all private rooms. Patient to nurse ratios are 1 to 6. Common diagnoses include elective surgeries such as hips, knees, and shoulders. The unit also sees patients with fractures from falls and neck or back surgeries. General medical-surgical experience is also required. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common intravenous fluids and PCA pumps are used. Charge nurses are present 24/7. Day shift charge nurses may take patients if necessary. Night shift charge nurses always take a full patient assignment. Patient care technicians are available to assist with vital signs, activities of daily living, and can discharge catheters. Respiratory therapists manage equipment like CPAP and BiPAP. There is remote telemetry monitoring when necessary. Registered nurses do not need to read telemetry strips. Staffing includes self-scheduling for permanent staff. Traveling nurses will be scheduled based on unit needs. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Weekend shifts for days include Saturday and Sunday. Holiday work depends on the unit's staffing needs. Floating to other medical-surgical units may be required. Scrub color is royal blue; scrub jackets must also be royal blue. There is a one-day orientation for EPIC and one day with a preceptor before starting independently.
