The unit consists of 17 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 5. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. There is a clinical supervisor serving as the charge nurse with no patient assignments. A nurse aide is available for eight hours during the day shift. The nurse is required to work four weekend shifts within a four-week schedule. Holiday shifts are part of the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. Portable tele boxes are available as needed. Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry and will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam. There are hospitalists available 24/7. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts are from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Floating to other MedSurg floors may be required. Candidates should expect one shift of floor-specific orientation. Common patient diagnoses include hips, knees, shoulders, and spine issues. There are no drips involved in the patient care. Candidates must be willing to be flexible and adaptable. The hospital may cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. This position is for an acute care setting with Trauma Level 2.
