Description:
The unit has 43 private rooms.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on 12-hour days and 1:5-6 on 12-hour nights.
Common diagnoses include a wide variety of medical-surgical and postoperative orthopedic cases, as well as trauma cases with fractures.
There is a primary charge RN on each shift.
A house supervisor is available 24/7.
Patient care techs are present with a ratio of 1:7-8.
RNs have access to CPAP and heated high flow as needed.
House-wide telemetry pack monitors are used, and RNs are responsible for reading their own strips.
Shifts are 12 hours, and travel staff are required to work every other weekend.
Travel RNs may float to other similar medical-surgical floors when needed.
Scrub color is any professional color, and tattoos and piercings must be covered.
Unit-specific orientation consists of two days.
