Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Nursing/Orthopedic Staff Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7P-7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Associate’s degree in nursing required, Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process, within established standards and practices. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Performs pre and post-operative care, including general, bariatric, orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, and genitourinary care. Manages pain effectively. Provides chest tube care and insertion. Administers PEG, G-tube, and J-tube care. Applies traction. Handles percutaneous, sump, Jackson Pratt, or Hemovac drainage care. Administers medications safely. Conducts NIH Stroke Scale assessments. Manages KODA access and central lines. Delivers specialized IV drips and titration. Provides IV therapy and performs IVADD waiver testing. Conducts transfusion therapy as necessary. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Maintains patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Interprets data about the patient’s status to provide appropriate age-specific care. Interacts professionally with patients and families. Involves patients and families in the formation of individualized care plans. Reviews, revises, and updates the plan of care daily. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of learning and includes families in teaching as appropriate.
