Must-Have:
Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for a Level 1 Trauma facility.
Experience in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring.
Ability to interpret cardiac telemetry.
Experience in care coordination with an interdisciplinary team and discharge planning.
Description:
We are seeking a registered nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry.
The facility has 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma designation.
It is a teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center.
The unit has 35 beds and operates with a census of approximately 35 patients.
Patient types and common diagnoses include orthopedic and trauma cases, post-operative surgeries, and patients with acute or chronic diseases.
Common comorbidities include diabetes, hypertension, infections, congestive heart failure, and electrolyte imbalances.
Patient ratios are structured as RN: 1:4-6 and LPN: 1:4-6.
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) support the nursing staff with a ratio of 2-3 per shift.
The position requires strong clinical skills, including proficiency with insulin and heparin drips.
Candidates must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance.
The unit culture is fast-paced yet emphasizes teamwork and collaboration.
Nurses are expected to manage the care of high-acuity patients in a dynamic environment.
Duties include clinical assessment, monitoring, patient education, and discharge planning.
This role requires dedication to patient care and the ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team.
Schedule includes weekend rotations and holiday shifts as part of the commitment to provide care.
