Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience License: BLS required Certifications: Basic Cardiac Rhythm required; ACLS preferred; National certification in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for a Level 1 Trauma Hospital Trach care and chest tube management experience IV insertion and care, including central line management Wound care and post-operative monitoring Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation Experience with glucometer and titration of heparin and insulin drips Description: The position requires an RN with a background in MedSurg and Telemetry. The facility has 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma designation. Candidates will work with post/pre-cardiac patients and step-down ICU patients. Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis. Patient ratios are typically RN: 1:4-6 with adequate support staff. CNAs will assist with vital signs, glucose checks, patient care, and transport. Nurses will coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and help with discharge planning. The unit benefits from 24/7 respiratory therapists and hospitalist services. Telemetry monitoring is centralized through a dedicated unit. Nurses will utilize EMR, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. Weekend rotation involves 5-6 weekends in a 6-week schedule. Nurses are expected to work one shift during each major holiday. Teamwork is emphasized in an environment that is busy yet collaborative.
