Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Surg/Tele RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skill set including cardiac rhythm interpretation. Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone). General medical/surgical care skills for patients with tubes/drains. IV start skills, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes. Experience with EPIC EMR for at least 6 months. Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the MedSurg/Tele specialty. The unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24 patients. Patient diagnoses include various cardiac, respiratory, and neuro cases. The environment is fast-paced with typical patient ratios of RN: 1:5-6 during the day and night shifts. In surge staffing situations, ratios may increase to 1:7-8. The unit has a CNA ratio of 1:12. Support within the department includes a charge nurse who may have patient assignments as well as available phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and respiratory therapy services 24/7. A hospitalist is onsite during the day and available virtually in the evenings and overnight. An intensivist is also present 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is done remotely with the support of telemetry technicians. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice as needed. Travelers may need to float to all facilities within the designated region and will be compensated for travel time if floating mid-shift. Weekend rotation is required, with a commitment to working every other weekend. There is a possibility of low census callbacks up to 3 AM for night shifts and 3 PM for day shifts. Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays. Request time off is limited to 6 days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if the contracted hours are not met. Shift times are from 0645 to 1915 for days and 1845 to 0715 for nights. The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks. The unit culture is described as excellent.
