Join a leading acute-care hospital as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN in Concord, NC. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on patient-centered care. Our facility is known for its commitment to excellence, including being a Level 3 Trauma Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence.

Unit Information:

• 44 beds with a census of 44
• Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Medical patients aged 18 and above with respiratory illnesses, GI illnesses, sepsis, CHF, diabetes, placement issues, and behavioral health concerns.

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:4-6, acuity dependent (surge times could increase to 1:7-8)
• LPN: 1:4-6, acuity dependent (surge times could increase to 1:7-8)
• CNA: 1:11-16

Required Licenses and Certifications:

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

• Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, wound care, plurex catheter management, positive bedside manner, and strong communication skills.

Support within the Department:

• CNA trained to perform additional skills such as foley catheter insertion and removal, PIV removal, oxygen setup, bolus tube feeds, EKG, bladder scan, finger stick blood sugar, and peripheral blood draws.
• Unit Secretary available on dayshift only.
• Charge nurse available out of assignment when staffing allows.
• Phlebotomy support from CNA for peripheral sticks; RN performs central lines.
• IV/VAT Team available for difficult sticks and manages central line dressing changes.
• Respiratory Therapy assigned to the unit 24/7 for all respiratory treatments.
• Hospitalist and Intensivist available 24/7 for consults as needed.
• Telemetry monitoring is conducted remotely.

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Patient Safety Net (PSN)
• Unit-specific equipment: PSN, Hoyer lift, EKG, bladder scanner, vein finder.

Floating:

• Travel nurses will be the first to float to other nursing units based on patient care needs and staffing demands.
• Will float per regional needs to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice.
• Travelers will be compensated for time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift.

Orientation:

• NEO and facility flash orientation with the education team.
• Two days of departmental orientation with a preceptor.

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other.
• No call required.
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
• RTO: Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays (must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours).
• Shift times: 0645-1900 or 1845-0700.
• Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.
