Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a MedSurg/Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 2+ years of MedSurg experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Transitional Care Unit with 20 beds (10 in 5A, 10 in 5B)
• General MedSurg patient population including CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, and wounds
• May also see general surgical patients as any service line can admit
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 12-hour day shifts (0630-1900), 36 hours per week
• EOW (every other weekend) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within scope of practice at the hospital
• Bedside cardiac monitors with central monitoring at the nurses' station
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line blood draws
• Experience with non-titrating drips required: Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix
• Experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone drips preferred, though training is available
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Level 1 Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
• 885 licensed beds
• Unit supported by 1 CNA per pod (5A and 5B), 1 charge RN covering both areas, 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and residents
• No receptionist or HUC support on the unit
• RNs may need to collect their own labs
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 shifts on the unit
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Free parking available
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Clinical interview required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Returning travelers must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
