Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months MedSurg/Tele RN experience preferred License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General post-surgical skill set including: - Incision care - Assessment - Drains - Chest Tubes - Wound Care/Wound vacs - Mobility - Education - Trach Care - NG tube insertion - Use of braces/traction Description: The RN will provide care in a post-surgical setting. The unit has 28 beds and provides care for patients with various diagnoses. Common patient types include orthopedic, spine, trauma, and vascular surgeries. Patient ratios range from 1:4-6, with higher ratios during surge times. Support staff includes CNAs for phlebotomy and assistance with activities of daily living. There are charge nurses, IV teams, and mentors available for guidance. Respiratory therapy and hospitalists are available 24/7. Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized for patient safety. Available resources for support include patient safety attendants and behavioral response teams. Floating to the regional facilities may be required based on staffing needs. A weekend rotation and holiday work are expected of travelers. RTO allows for up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. The work environment is described as positive and supportive.
