Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required. License: Nursing License required. Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred. Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding. Certification in MedSurg is a plus. Must-Have: Must be proficient in cardiac drips. Description: RN - MedSurg/Telemetry position available. This facility features 637 licensed beds. It holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation. It is a teaching hospital and has a Chest Pain Center. The facility is also a Stroke Center. Each MedSurg unit contains 20-36 beds. Patient types and common diagnoses include MedSurg/Telemetry for all inpatient MedSurg units. Patient ratios are as follows: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA up to 1:14. A CNA will assist with vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, bed changes, feeding if needed, and patient safety. A unit secretary is present from 7 AM to 11 PM, and a house-wide call secretary is available from 11 PM to 7 AM. A charge nurse is available on each unit. Phlebotomy is typically performed by lab staff; RNs draw from central venous lines. There is no dedicated IV team, but a PICC team is available. Resource nurses, discharge nurses, and a resource team float to all units. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalists and intensivists are also available around the clock. Central telemetry monitoring is provided. Technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. Unit-specific equipment such as VS3 vital sign monitors and glucose testing strips are utilized. Travelers are utilized in a float pool capacity and may be required to float to all Med/Tele units as needed. The unit culture is busy and team-oriented.
