Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in requested specialty License: Required license for Registered Nurse Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI (CPI training will be offered if not already certified) Must-Have: Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills Nursing skills with knowledge of cardiac drips Experience with neuro, cardiac, pulmonary, orthopedic, trauma, and surgical patients Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry. The facility has a licensed bed capacity and is designated as a level 2 trauma center. It is a teaching hospital with a residency program available. Common patient types and diagnoses include those seen in the general population for trauma, chest pain, cardiac events, and strokes. The medical-surgical floors manage patients with a variety of conditions, including infections, frailty, and neurological disorders. Specialized areas include oncology, orthopedics, pulmonology, vascular, and bariatric surgery. Critical care areas encompass stepdown units for neurology and cardiac patients, as well as an observation unit and combined ICU. Nurses are supported by a multidisciplinary team, including CNAs, respiratory therapists, and educators. Technology and equipment used include an electronic medical record system and various monitoring devices. All nurses are expected to float between medical-surgical and critical care areas as needed. A culture of teamwork is emphasized, with an expectation for nurses to communicate and assist one another. Weekend rotations and holiday expectations are part of the scheduling process. This role is essential for ensuring patient care and safety in a fast-paced environment.
