Description:
Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele position available.
Facility has 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 Trauma center.
The unit consists of 32 beds with an average census of 28.
Patient types and common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder procedure, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management.
Patient ratios are RN: Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6, with surge staffing possibly increasing ratios to 1:7-8.
CNA ratios are 1:10-11, or 1:16 depending on staffing.
Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars.
Receptionist/Health Unit Coordinator performs rounds and secretarial duties.
The charge nurse serves as a resource to assist with all nursing care.
Phlebotomy support is available, with a separate team for IV/VAT.
Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7.
Hospitalist and intensivist services are also on-site 24/7.
Telemetry monitoring is supported by a dedicated tech.
Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice.
Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift.
Schedule includes weekend rotation and potential call for low census.
Travelers will work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
Shift times are 0645-1900 and 1845-0700, with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks.
Scrub color requirements are Navy.
