Description:
The RN will work in a specialized MedSurg/Tele unit.
The unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24.
Patient types include various diagnoses such as cardiac, respiratory, and neuro.
The environment is fast-paced with observation patients.
Typical patient ratios are 1:5-6 for both day and night shifts, with potential surge staffing ratios of 1:7-8.
CNA support is available with a 1:12 ratio.
A charge nurse may have patient assignments but is a resource for staff.
The department includes support from phlebotomists, an IV/VAT team, and respiratory therapists available 24/7.
A hospitalist is on-site during day shifts and virtually available during evening and overnight shifts.
Intensivists are on duty 24/7, and telemetry monitoring is conducted remotely with the help of a telemetry tech.
Experience with EMR systems is required, specifically with a minimum of six months using EPIC.
Equipment utilized includes IV pumps and medication dispensing systems.
Floating to other facilities within the region and scope of practice may be required.
Traveler staff might be required to float to meet regional needs, with compensation for travel time between facilities during mid-shift floats.
The unit embraces a positive culture promoting teamwork and support.
Weekend rotations occur every other weekend, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
RTO requests are allowed for up to six days off, excluding holidays, and any unscheduled time off must be added to the end of the contract.
Shifts are scheduled on a six-week cycle.
