Job Title: MedSurg/Tele RN Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips Description: This position is for a MedSurg/Tele RN in a setting with 241 licensed beds. The facility is a Level 3 Trauma center and a certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center. The unit has 32 beds and an average census of 28 patients. Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management. The patient ratios for days are 1:4-6 and nights are 1:5-6. Required skills include wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, and blood sugar checks. There is a receptionist for administrative duties, as well as charge nurses who assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available, and there is 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist/intensivist support. Telemetry monitoring is available through dedicated staff. The technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and monitors. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend with no call required. Holiday expectations are that travelers will work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, but must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Scrub color for the unit is navy.
